About Ondre Pettingill

Since I was 5 years of age I knew I had a passion to be an artist and create images from life. Ondre Pettingill resides in a town in Utah called “Art City” or better known as Springville. Eight years ago Ondre started teaching secondary art in Utah County. It was a great experience introducing art movements throughout history to my students. Ondre continued to learn more beyond graduating from a university about artists styles and why their art styles were important to them and how it affected their environment and society. His painting interest has always been painting the figure but recently Ondre has found beauty and a love for painting in the out-doors. Ondre has had many exhibits throughout Utah in galleries and other venues selling and winning awards for his landscape paintings.

Artist Statement:
Ondre has realized that one can find beauty in nature even in a blinding snow storm where all the colors of nature seem to have the same color and values. He has learned to look closer at the details of nature and find things that are not usually observed. When Ondre paints there is an order of things that must be there for his paintings to be successful: Interesting Flowing Composition, Colors that work in Harmony, Value Scale Range, Aesthetic Beauty, Variety of varied realistic and abstract Shapes. Ondre believes it is important to be at one in nature in an out door - plein air environment to see all things up close and personal. I have a burning desire to make each of my paintings better than the last by observing my subject matter and techniques closer during the process as I continue my artistic journey.
